Registration in the AYC includes accommodation at Kamp Kiwanis, located in the greater Bragg Creek area.  The event committee is aiming to create a social experience in addition to a ski experience.  We would like all athletes regardless of their place of residence to stay at the camp. The facility includes bunk beds in dorm rooms. Everyone staying at Kamp Kiwanis will need to bring their own sleeping bag, pillow, towel, toiletries. Building on the successful model from Alberta Winter Games, chaperones, athletes, coaches will all be accommodated at Kamp Kiwanis.  The camp has over 250 beds on site and has been reserved for AYC for March 6-8, 2015.

Parents, younger or older siblings participating will be required to find their own accommodation (Cochrane is located 20km north of Kamp Kiwanis)

Waxing space

The hobby hut at Kamp Kiwanis will be available as an indoor waxing room.  The space is heated.  Electricity is available. No electricity or waxing building is available at West Bragg Ski Trails.  Clubs are encouraged to bring their own tent or shelter if desired to use at West Bragg Ski Trails.

2014 Alberta Youth Championships - a huge success!

We did it! a fantastic provincial championships event cohosted by xc bragg creek ski club and canmore nordic ski club.  This is an important event - the only provincial championships level event sanctioned by Cross Country Alberta.  It is the biggest collection of kids of this age at any provincial event in the province.  It is fast becoming the most important and highest level event for this four year age group.

A big thank you to our volunteers including our chiefs - Cindy Low, Chief of Timing; Matt Strum, Chief of Stadium; Erik Anderson, Chief of Course; TD, Blair Dunbar; Nicole Martin, Asst Chief; Les Parsons, Chair of Cross Country Alberta,  as well all of our other volunteers!

The weekend was everything a provincial championships event should be.  Lots of kids from lots of clubs, from all over Alberta, Saskatchewan, and NWT.  There were many incredible performances and lots of best efforts.  Lots of laughter and friendship.  Even the coaches got involved - Ulf Kleppe and I had our anticipated showdown in the coach's relay (Ulf finished ahead of me - way to go Ulf) where the Edmonton Nordic coaches finished first, Canmore Nordic second, and Foothills Nordic third.

Our event organizing committee was very pleased with how the event went and is already looking ahead to 2015.  Our hope is to host the event back at the West Bragg trails again on the weekend of March 6-8, 2015.  Camp Kiwanis has been booked again for that weekend.  It will be alot of fun!

We hope to see you all there!
